Detailed Installation Steps
Lay the Moisture Barrier:
Fully cover the area with the moisture barrier. Overlap the seams by 20cm and seal them with waterproof tape. Extend the barrier up the walls by 5cm on all sides to prevent rising moisture. If installing over underfloor heating or on the first floor, it is recommended to add a 0.6mm thin film underneath the moisture barrier for enhanced moisture protection.
Reserve Expansion Gaps:
Start installation from the side of the room near the door or the top-left corner. A 8-10mm expansion gap must be left between the wall and the flooring. Secure this gap using dedicated spacers. When the continuous installation width exceeds 6 meters or the length exceeds 8 meters, install expansion strips to separate sections, preventing warping due to thermal expansion and contraction.
Locking Joint Installation:
Joint Angle: Insert the tongue of the long edge of the floorboard at a 45-degree angle into the groove of the already installed floorboard, press down to lock, then handle the short edge. Auxiliary Tapping: Use a rubber mallet and tapping block to gently tap the joint area to ensure a tight fit. Never directly strike the edge of the floorboard with force. Staggered Installation: Use the 369 method or herringbone pattern. The joints of adjacent rows must be staggered. The cut length of the first board should follow a proportional cycle of 40.6cm, 81.4cm, etc.
Cutting and Finishing:
Cutting Method: After measuring the remaining dimensions, score and break multiple times with a utility knife or cut with a cutter, ensuring the cut edge faces the wall. Last Row: Cut according to the actual width, with the narrow edge facing outward. Use a spring hook to pull the locking mechanism tight to ensure a snug fit.
Install Baseboards: After the floor installation is complete, remove the expansion spacers. Install the baseboards to cover the excess moisture barrier. Repair nail holes with matching color putty.
